Buccal Face Massage

Welcome to a sanctuary for self care

Designed to take you on a journey into deep relaxation, buccal face massage cocoons you in luscious pampering while dissolving layers of tension to reveal your innate glow. Filled with sensory delights of relaxing sounds, yummy scents, and nourishing touch, these sessions offer space to receive, fill your cup and simply 'be'.

Buccal face massage transforms the traditional approach to beauty in the industry which is dominated by invasive techniques, plastic surgeries, injectables, and the use of various toxic substances to delay the ageing process. The holistic and less invasive approach of buccal face massage views the relationship between lymphatic, circulatory, immune, and nervous systems as an essential component to health and maintaining longevity. These sessions offer a subtle lifting effect to the face, neck, and décolleté without the side effects and risks of complications.

The face can accumulate tension from life stressors and experiencing universal emotions which engage the facial muscles in repetitive patterns. For example, frown lines may emerge from frequent worry, overthinking or trying to 'figure life out'. Similarly, experiencing sadness often engages facial muscles such as the depressors, pulling the corners of the lips down over time. Buccal face massage offers deep-tissue massage to help release and stretch out contracted muscles, similar to what yoga does for your limbs. Buccal face massage can also offer value to those who experience TMJ, headaches, migraines, muscle spasms, teeth grinding, or jaw tension.

This approach is about tending to your face as you do your body, nourishing and enlivening your face and being through intentional, present touch and rebalancing the natural features and structures of your face to accentuate your natural beauty.

What does the buccal/intraoral aspect involve?

Buccal or intraoral massage is a unique technique in which the muscles around the mouth and jaw are worked not only from the outside, but the inside as well. The buccal component is performed with gloved hands using the thumbs and forefingers to massage the interior of the lips and cheeks, and working down to the jaw. It involves a level of pressure that is comfortable for you, with options for pauses at any time. It is commonly experienced as a feeling of tension or tightness (after all, the masseter muscle is the strongest muscle in the body and how often has this part of your body received massage and attention?).. yet oh-so-relieving in the aftermath!

A jaw that moves freely and comfortably can impact many jaw conditions as well as our day-to-day activities. Buccal massage can be supportive as it allows access to the deep layers of the facial muscles, particularly those involved in chewing, subsequently releasing tension and promoting relaxation. These sessions are particularly helpful for stress-induced jaw tension.

Intraoral massage as a mode of skincare may sound strange. The link between massaging the inside of the mouth to give our outer skin a radiant glow is that there are nerves and tension points in and around the buccal area on the face that are easier to reach and support from the inside and this in turn impacts the skin's appearance. Our muscles are all interconnected, from our traps, up to our neck, the jaw, and our masseter muscles, and together contribute to the tapestry that makes up our overall skin health such as skin tone and complexion.

Buccal massage is also often experienced as an intimate massage. The inside of the mouth is a vulnerable area, often an 'untouched' area where there are limited experiences outside dentist visits and any associations with those visits, and the face is a primary vehicle of expressing our emotion and who we are. For some, this offers an opportunity to bring more awareness to their body and an access point to digesting any stored or unresolved emotion in the face.

All experiences during a buccal face massage are welcomed and sessions are curated for your individual intentions and needs.

How many sessions are recommended?

Session frequency is dependent upon your intentions and individual skin assessment. Suggested guidelines appear below.

  • Self care and refreshing glow: monthly or as desired.

  • Stress or emotional detox: as needed. A few sessions may support with building rapport and comfortability to surrender to inner contractions and sensations.

  • Chronic jaw tension: this is different for everyone. Some people feel instant relief from the first treatment. Regular sessions will continue to alleviate jaw symptoms and improve overall jaw alignment.

  • Aesthetic focus: typically 6-8 sessions weekly, followed by monthly maintenance sessions to significantly slow down the aging process and reduce the need for invasive procedures.

  • Special occasion: try a shorter, express course of 3-5 sessions every other day in the lead up to the event.

**Buccal face massage is not a quick fix treatment. Although visible results can be achieved from the first session, we recommend a systematic approach in order to create a long-lasting effect. Just like you cannot expect to transform your body by visiting the gym once. The goal is to get the timing right between the sessions - just as the effect from the first treatment begins to wear off, you'll need to repeat the treatment.

Meet the Star Ingredients

Zeolite

Zeolite, a hidden gem in the skincare scene, is one of nature's few negatively charged minerals, which means it's able to bind and remove toxins from your skin. This powerful mineral is anti inflammatory, an antioxidant and works to draw out and remove impurities and protect your skin from free radicals.

Calendula

Calendula is a flower that belongs in the marigold family and has been used medicinally for centuries. Gentle and soothing for the skin, calendula oil is also anti-inflammatory, hydrating, and promotes wound healing through antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.

Tremella Mushroom

Tremella mushrooms have long been used in traditional Chinese medicine and are supportive for both acne prone and sensitive skin. They are regaining popularity for their ability to improve skin elasticity, naturally draw moisture to the skin in a similar way to hyaluronic acid, and lock in your skin’s moisture by protecting the skin’s natural barrier.

Rosehip

Rosehip oil is well known for its skincare benefits including to improve skin elasticity and firmness, prevent blackheads, protect against sun damage and reduce inflammation. The vitamin A, or retinol, in rosehip oil encourages skin cell turnover, reducing dullness and hyperpigmentation and brightening the skin.

Prickly Pear

Prickly pear seed oil is prized for its high vitamin E content. The fruit in general is a rich source of nutrients, so it’s no wonder the seeds produce oil that’s the equivalent to liquid gold for the skin. It has been found to visibly reduce signs of aging such as wrinkles, dark spots, uneven skin tone and dryness and with its high linoleic acid content, it helps to keep the skin hydrated and soft.

Kakadu Plum

Thanks to its ultra rich concentration of Vitamin C and Beta Carotene antioxidant, Kakadu plum oil helps to fade pigmentation, even out skin tone and improve skin texture to restore and renew the complexion. An Australian native, this extract is light weight and deeply penetrates the skin without clogging pores. A must-have if you want to increase your skin's luminosity.

Buccal face massage sessions also use shea butter, Vitamin E oil, micellar water and rose hydrosol. That's it.
